The prophet Ezekiel shares with us the vision of God’s kingdom...a place where all God’s people “shall be secure on their soil; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I break the bars of their yoke, and save them from the hands of those who enslaved them. They shall no more be plunder for the nations… they shall live in safety, and no one shall make them afraid.” Ezekiel 34: 27-28
Heavenly Father, we pray that you will open our eyes to see the vision of God’s kingdom as a place where all can live without fear. Open our hearts and fill them with your love, so that we may share your love with those fleeing a life of enslavement and terror in their own country, and welcome them to live in safety among us. Guide our feet so that we may walk alongside them, learning about them, their needs, their desires; guide our hands that we may reach out and show them how to navigate the ways of our country. Strengthened with the showers of your blessings, may we build the bridges that will allow us to come together in a community of loving support for one another. May all your people know that the Lord their God is with them, and that they are His beloved children. In Christ’s Holy Name we pray. Amen.
