Transformation rarely happens in a single moment. It unfolds as a woman gains confidence in English, a parent finds meaningful work, a child discovers new opportunities, and a family begins to build a secure future.
Gateway of Grace walks alongside individuals and families for the long term—removing barriers, strengthening their God-given abilities, and providing and connecting them with the education, resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to flourish.
We are committed to measurable impact. We track participation, educational progress, employment outcomes, families supported, essential resources distributed, volunteer engagement, and partnerships formed. These results help us evaluate our effectiveness, strengthen our programs, and remain accountable to those who support our mission.
But numbers tell only part of the story. Some of the most meaningful outcomes are qualitative: the confidence to speak in a classroom, the dignity of providing for one’s family, the courage to ask for help, the relief of no longer feeling alone, and the hope that comes when someone begins to believe in the future again.
Our impact is measured both by what can be counted and by what can be witnessed—greater independence, stronger families, meaningful employment, renewed belonging, and lives transformed.
The results and stories shared here reflect the courage of the families we serve and the effectiveness of a compassionate, holistic approach that helps people move from striving to thriving.

From Striving to Thriving
Amour
Every paycheck Amour earned had to stretch across seven lives.
She arrived in Dallas from Kenya in 2023 with her six children while her husband remained overseas. Working evening shifts at a hotel, she carried the responsibility of supporting and raising the family largely on her own.Still, her wages could not keep pace with $1,700 in monthly rent and the everyday cost of caring for six children. Although she was already working hard, Amour began searching for a second job simply to keep her family afloat.
Her struggle was not caused by a lack of determination. What stood between Amour and greater stability was access—to professional guidance, better employment opportunities, and a network that could help her navigate an unfamiliar system.
That connection began at a Gateway of Grace job fair.
Through personalized coaching, interview preparation, and help completing applications, Amour was equipped to pursue a stronger opportunity. Soon afterward, she secured a position with Mesquite ISD.
For Amour, the new job was more than employment. It was a turning point for an entire family.
Gateway of Grace continued walking alongside them. Her children received school supplies, participated in seasonal programs, and became part of a community that knew them, encouraged them, and cared about their future.
The pressures Amour carries have not disappeared, and her journey is still unfolding. But she is no longer rebuilding alone.
Her story shows what long-term accompaniment can make possible: when a hardworking mother gains access to opportunity, six children gain greater security, a family finds belonging, and a future once defined by uncertainty begins to open toward stability and hope.
Maha and Haydar
Before there was a business plan, there were long walks to English class.
Maha and Haydar had arrived in the United States from Iraq determined to build a safer, more secure future for their children. But limited English, missing immigration documents, unfamiliar systems, and the daily pressure of providing for a family made every step forward difficult.
Still, they kept showing up.
They walked long distances to attend English classes because they understood that language could open doors—to employment, independence, and a fuller life in their new community.
Gateway of Grace began walking beside them. English instruction helped them communicate with greater confidence. Transportation made programs more accessible. Practical assistance brought relief during difficult moments. When essential documents were missing, the team helped them navigate a complicated legal process that would have been nearly impossible to face alone.
Over time, trust grew alongside stability.
In a quiet U.S. court ceremony, Gateway of Grace staff stood beside Maha and Haydar as witnesses to their marriage. They were no longer surrounded only by professionals helping them complete a process, but by a Christian community that had become family.
Then another possibility began to emerge.
Haydar dreamed of building something of his own. With support from Gateway of Grace, he developed a business plan, created a brand, and navigated the legal steps required to launch his small business.
The family’s journey did not change because of one service or one moment. Transformation came through years of education, practical guidance, encouragement, and relationships that remained present as their needs and possibilities evolved.
Today, Maha and Haydar are not only rebuilding their own lives. They continue serving within the Gateway of Grace community, offering to others the same support and belonging they once received.
Their story reveals the lasting power of long-term accompaniment. A walk to English class becomes a path to entrepreneurship. A family facing uncertainty gains the tools to shape its own future. Those who once received support become people who strengthen the community around them.
This is what generosity makes possible—not temporary relief alone, but dignity restored, potential released, and hope multiplied from one family to another.
Benhur

When Benhur arrived in the United States from Eritrea, he came with hope—but no clear path forward.
He was ready to work and build a new life, yet without a résumé, professional connections, or experience navigating the American hiring process, opportunity felt out of reach.
Gateway of Grace walked beside him through each step—helping him create a résumé, complete applications, and pursue employment with confidence.
Then the door opened.
Benhur secured a position with Richardson ISD. The job brought more than a paycheck: it provided steady income, health insurance, paid time off, and something he had been working toward since his arrival—the security to begin building a future.
Now, the impact is reaching beyond Benhur. His older brother is beginning to follow the same path, encouraged by what he has seen become possible.
One résumé. One opportunity. One life redirected—and a family beginning to move from uncertainty toward lasting stability and hope.

When May’s husband was detained, she was suddenly alone—holding their baby and facing a future she could not see.
With no income, no support system, and nowhere safe to stay, she considered returning to her home country. Then she learned that leaving could mean being separated from her U.S.-born child.
May faced a choice no mother should ever have to make: remain in a desperate situation or leave without her baby.
At the moment when every door seemed closed, Gateway of Grace stood beside her. We provided safe housing, practical assistance, and steady support as she works toward a legal path forward.
Today, May and her child are safe. They have a place to stay, people they can call, and the hope of building a future together.
